We recently used an ad in both the Northants and Daventry Village Emporiums to promote a special pre-season sale weekend. We also sent a mail shot to existing customers, put up signs on the roadside and advertised in the local press.

The local press advertising and the signboards brought no one in. The new customers all came from our ads in the two Emporium magazines."

I paint for a living, particularly horses, dogs and other animals. I decided to advertise in The Emporium as I have always enjoyed receiving my copies through the years, and indeed used it myself to find local suppliers – it was the obvious choice for me. And I haven't been disappointed. I've had so much response I have had to draw up a waiting list – I can't paint fast enough!

"It's a formula that works well for us. Our main source of new business is referrals from satisfied customers, but the Emporium magazines are second along with internet search engines. Directories and other publications are way down the list."

"We have been advertising in the Village Emporium for years and know for a fact that a large proportion of our enquiries come from there. We have an ongoing booking and wouldn't dream of not advertising in The Emporium – we would have to be mad. It's definitely a 'must do' in our marketing plan."

"We hadn't advertised for quite a while, but when we re-branded our Farm shop we knew it would be money wasted if we then didn't make the most of it by advertising. We had always liked receiving the Emporium ourselves so decided to give it a try. Our ads looked great and we got loads of people coming into the shop saying they had seen it. We will definitely be advertising again as its good value for money."

After a poor response to flyers posted in schools, local youth centers and music shops, drum-teacher Maddie Hartley decided to try The Village Emporium. "The response to my advert was fantastic! I had no idea that there were so many potential drum students living between Rugby and Daventry."

Maddie now advertises in two editions of The Village Emporium to promote her business.
